Left on Red Drops “Gaslight” – A Heavy Valentine’s Day Surprise

Left on Red Drops “Gaslight” – A Heavy Valentine’s Day Surprise Columbia, MO’s own Left on Red is kicking off their second year with the same chaotic energy that makes them stand out. This metalcore powerhouse: featuring vocalist Myles Clayborne, drummer Shea Spence, guitarist Corey Harness, and bassist Anthony Brummer…started 2025 strong with their attention-grabbing Sneezecore track, Pyrosceniac. In classic LOR fashion, the song delivers heavy riffs, but midway through, Myles literally stops to sneeze, yelling, “I’m allergic to your bullshit!” It’s that kind of unhinged creativity, mixed with killer musicianship, that keeps fans coming back. So when I opened the music video for their latest single, Gaslight, I don’t know why I was surprised to be greeted by pineapples, a blow-up SpongeBob, and the opening line of the SpongeBob SquarePants theme: “Are ya ready, kids?” Directed by Alexander Pattillo, the video is a full-on nighttime house party, with everyone decked out in Hawaiian attire. But don’t let the tropical chaos fool you…this song is packed with raw emotion and bite, with lyrics like, “I draw the line at being disrespected. You’re out of time, apology rejected.” Gaslight has all the signature LOR elements: heavy verses, soaring melodic choruses, and a squeaky panic synth bouncing between them. And yes, the breakdown samples SpongeBob. Why can’t heavy music be fun? With bands like Bilmuri and Electric Callboy embracing the absurd, LOR is right at home in this new wave of chaotic, meme-worthy metalcore. Thanks for another headbanger that makes me laugh. xoxo, KJ I-70 Radio
